About Us
U.S. PIRG, the National Consumer Law Center, Consumers Union, AARP, Public Citizen, ACORN, and the National Association of Consumer Advocates have come together to promote strong model consumer protections.

When states enact new protections for consumers, the laws often trickle out to other states and oftentimes become federal policy.

Our project puts strong policies in the hands of advocates and legislators and are a starting point for discussing consumer protections. Each of the laws listed must be tailored to fit the needs of each state or Congress. Not every group has expertise on each of the models listed.

Each model law has been peer reviewed by at least three organizations.
